THE STATE OF ART

I am thrilled to showcase my work in these exhilarating times. There's never been a more exciting or gratifying time to be an artist.

Find out why?

The State of Art
Concrete

A "RONTROSPECTIVE"

This exhibition charts my “most excellent” art adventure from economist to artist and scarcity to abundance.

A generous mindset and project history explained.

WHY MAELSTRON?

"Descent into the Maelstrom" by Edgar Allen Poe was an inspiration with the observation that it is only by peering into the abyss with detachment, that we may stumble upon visible order in the chaos.

The battle between science (rational) or nature (instinct).

Why Maelstron
Concrete

WHY INTERACTION MATTERS?

The viewer as "interpreter" is a unique, valid and active participant in the creative process. No special expertise is required.

Without engagement the work is not complete.

Let your story bring meaning to our conversation. Thank you in anticipation for sharing..

About

As an economist with a lifetime crossing T's and dotting I's, it's no surprise that my work is analytical and eclectic.

About
RON

A visual artist working from my home studio in Bedford, a cosmopolitan riverside market town about one hour north of London.  I'm a child of the 60s and 70s, by far the youngest of three, born in Essex to second-generation Jewish immigrants. My life partner, Ellen, is a Cambridge historian and teacher. I have two children, two step-children (all adults) and a dog.

Schooling and showcase

I was tutored in painting and art history by Philippe Nolle in the 1970s and took a course at Bedford College more recently.  I remain largely self-taught. RonYellonART was formed in 2019 to give more force to my work.

A founding artist of The Artocalypse, a virtual art community with an active discord group, my work was showcased in a retrospective exhibition in Nov 2020 before being translated here.

The history of art is source of wonder and inspiration. A lecture series on masterpieces in painting, sculpture and architecture by museum curator Caroline Bacon rekindled my study.  My broader influences can be found here.

Work

My paintings are intentionally colourful, thoughtful and rare. I am the opposite of prolific.  As an economist with a lifetime crossing T's and dotting I's, it's no surprise that my work is analytical and eclectic. Acrylic paint appeals. Its versatility gives rich intense colour but allows for transparent layered tones. It's accessible and suits a more graphical, semi-abstract and contemporary style.

The future is here

The links between art and technology fascinate me. The growing democratisation of art for collectors and creators has my attention. The application of blockchain technology will empower traditional as well as digital artists. I am a member of The Kickback (NFT) discord group. A lot to learn but some projects are calling - wearable art and preparing for the metaverse amongst them.

Welcome

I'm really excited to welcome you to my website which displays selected pieces in my online gallery.

  • I offer paintings and giclée prints for sale.

  • I am happy to collaborate and bring ideas to life - for paintings or art and tech.

  • Sign up to receive updates of latest projects more quickly than here; get sneak peaks behind the scenes on works in progress and sales updates.

  • Get in touch to talk art or discuss a bespoke original directly.

  • Or find me in the discord communities "TheArtocalypse" and "The Kickback (NFT) " online.
