Our entire existence in this world is run on duality. Duality teaches us that every aspect of life is created from a balanced interaction of opposite and competing complementary forces, like “good” and “evil”. They do not cancel each other out but merely balance each other like the dual wings of a bird.  And just like the roadway and the underside of a bridge you can’t have one without the other.

 

To fully understand one side of the dual nature of something you need to compare and fully understand its opposite. The problem with the duality of life and death, for example, is that we don’t have access to the other side that would help us to cherish our life here on earth. 

 

How then to learn appreciation and full gratitude for the life we are living? Death is one of the most difficult of life’s dualities to accept. We are poorly prepared yet we need faith in the continuum to live well and deeply with a fearless heart.
